How to make hand sanitizer at home from 100% natural and safe materials

Making a natural sterilizer and disinfectant at home has become a common and rapidly spreading thing.

How do you make simple hand sanitizer? How do you make natural hand sanitizer using 3 simple ingredients?

There are many sterilization and disinfection materials used to sterilize hands or various household items in the market, which are chemically manufactured and can be purchased from medical or household stores. However, making a sterilizer and disinfectant at home from natural and safe materials is coveted by most people, as it can be prepared and manufactured in every way. Easy if the practical steps described in this simple article are followed.

How effective hand sanitizer works against Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Effective ratio

The World Health Organization recommended the use of hand sanitizers that contain alcohol at least 60% of the sanitizer used, as the active ingredient is alcohol, and it is preferable to use ethanol alcohol (malt alcohol is the most common) or isopropyl alcohol, with the need not to use other toxic types. (such as methanol and butanol).

steps

1 - In a mixing bowl, mix 2/3 cup of malt alcohol or ethanol, with 1/3 cup of aloe vera gel, plus 8 to 10 drops of an essential oil such as lavender or chamomile oil (optional).

2 - Pour this mixture into a convenient container for use.

3 - Use it as needed.

Recommendation of the World Health Organization for the manufacture of effective sterilizers

In this link you will find several recipes recommended by the World Health Organization, which are especially for manufacturing companies and owners of specialists in the field of chemical manufacturers (never try to do them at home without consulting an expert in this field!!!)

The materials mentioned here are not equivalent to the effectiveness of the commercially manufactured sterilizer that contains alcohol at least 60%, but the following methods are considered useful in cases where alcohol (ethanol) is not available in the local market.

One of the ways to make a hand sanitizer or a general household sanitizer from natural materials that are safe on the skin is by using vinegar, by following the following from different methods.

1- Make a hand sanitizer with vinegar and water

A glass spray bottle is recommended, as some essential oils may react with plastic bottles.
You can use a spray bottle (spray or spray) to put an equal amount of water and white vinegar (for example, a cup of water and a cup of vinegar), with the addition of 5-15 drops of 100% essential oil (depending on the fragrance you like). This is the easiest way to make a sterilizer and disinfectant at home, as it can be used directly on the tools to be sterilized or on the hands.

2- Making sterile sanitizing wipes

The same mixture mentioned above can be prepared in the sterilizer in the form of a spray, but instead of placing it in a bottle, it is placed in a large bowl, where 30 pieces of fabric can be made and cut in a square shape (25 cm for example), and then they are immersed in the large bowl . It can be stored later in an airtight container.

3- Make a mist of vinegar and baking soda

Baking soda has an effective ability to remove stubborn fats and germs.

In a large bowl, add each of the following: 4 cups (950 ml) hot water, 1/4 cup (60 ml) white vinegar, and 2 tablespoons (30 ml) baking soda. Later, add pieces of lemon and natural lemon juice to it, then filter the mixture and put it in a glass bottle. A little lemon essential oil (4 drops) can be added.

How to use the sanitizer and disinfectant spray

1 - First, clean the surface to be sterilized, removing any existing dirt. Any natural or organic cleaner can be used if you don't want to use chemical cleaners.

2 - When using the spray, it must be shaken well, to ensure that all the ingredients are mixed and homogeneous.

3 - Then, the surface is sprayed using a sterilizer and spray disinfectant, along the surface to be sterilized and disinfected.

4 - Leave the sanitizer on the surface for about 10 minutes, to increase its effectiveness in eliminating germs.

5 - Finally, wipe the surface with a clean cloth. Do not use the cloth on more than one surface or more than once.

Is vinegar a good hand sanitizer?

Overall, vinegar has sterilizing functions, due to its acetic acid, which has the ability to destroy bacteria and viruses, but commercial medical sterilizers are likely to be more effective at this.

There are a few studies that have shown that vinegar has antibacterial properties (this study proves this in bacteria in food). In one study, after 30 minutes, 6% acetic acid effectively killed tuberculosis bacteria.

Also, in another 2010 study, it was found that 10 percent barley vinegar could be helpful in killing influenza viruses.
